There are so many things we cling to in life that don’t deserve our clinging. They don’t deserve the energy we give them. They don’t deserve our affections. They don’t deserve to be prioritized over our family. They don’t deserve the mental energy that we could be using to shape our dreams and visions. They don’t deserve the physical energy that we could spend, living our dreams and visions. They don’t deserve the anxiety we allow, and yes, we allow anxiety.
As I enjoy the splendour of Fall’s breathtaking colors, I’m reminded that it’s a beautiful thing to let go. Just as vibrant leaves cover our world with rich golds and reds, letting go means releasing and finding freedom in a different season of life.
It’s a beautiful thing to enjoy the growing seasons we’ve endured. It’s a beautiful thing to prepare ourselves for the biting yet beautiful winter knowing that better growth, stronger growth, and fresh growth are to come in the Spring. There’s rest to be found in the simplest lessons nature teaches us. God displays growth, change, release, and new beginnings every year.
Someday we may actually ‘get it’.
Change your thoughts and you will change your world.
-Norman Vincent Peale
